Sexual Offender Assessments

Sexual Offender Assessments are utilized when an individual has been charged with (pre-sentencing) or has been convicted of (post-sentencing) a sexual offense.  Assessments include a clinical interview as well as psychological testing and a risk assessment.  The purpose of a sexual offender assessment, in cases of pre-sentencing, is to assist the court, client or attorney’s involved in the case, in the clinical understanding of the offender and their offense as well as provide a recommendation for treatment and understanding of potential risk for recidivism.  The purposes of a post-sentencing sexual offender assessment are similar to those of a pre-sentence assessment; however, the assessment functions as a tool to assist in planning for treatment of the offender as well as evaluating any potential risk to the community.
